Introduction
Back pain, UV radiation, and dry eyes. As a travel blogger, you spend many hours behind a laptop screen. That’s the contract with the devil that you need to sign if you want to be a digital nomad. However, if you read “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Tim Ferriss, you probably know that you can reduce your laptop time or even work part-time offline abroad.
Writing workshops
If you are a skilled travel blogger or digital nomad who knows how to write well, you can offer writing workshops offline. Think about getting a table at your favorite cafe and advertising in expat and digital nomad groups. You can offer travel blogging, business writing, sales pitch, copywriting, or creative writing classes.
Business photography
In expat cities, surf towns, and digital nomad villages, you can find many entrepreneurs, small businesses, and even huge enterprises. That means that there are many tasks available for you as a travel photographer. However, you need to change a bit your angle. Think about digital nomad business photography with your DSLR camera, surf photography for a surf school with a GoPro, or drone photography for a luxury hotel. You can apply the same for videography and even filming Reels with your smartphone. If you are really stuck, buy a Polaroid. You can always approach tourists so they can get an instant picture of their holidays for $5.
Travel blog coaching
As a travel blogger, you have your own website with content. Many other digital nomads would love to start a website for their hustle or a travel blog to document their adventures. It’s a great opportunity to not only offer travel writing classes but also a workshop about how to start your travel blog and which platform to use. You can even create more workshops about how to design your blog, how to monetize, how to structure your blogs, or even how to promote your content on social media.
Surf instructor
If you want to take a break from sitting behind a laptop, you can also offer surf lessons. Of course, you need to be at a decent level and obtain your certificates. But teaching how to surf is a great way to earn some extra cash and expand your network abroad. Other opportunities include kiteboarding, snowboarding, hiking, trail running, diving, snorkeling, longboarding, yoga, workout bootcamps, and meditation. There are even people who teach the Wim Hoff method of breathing.
Tour guide
If you feel like a local abroad or love to talk about culture, history, cuisine, or lifestyle, you can consider giving tours to groups or individuals to explore the local area with you. Think about urban graffiti mural tours, pub crawls, local cuisine degustation, paddleboarding tours, hiking to a volcano, or even whale watching. The Travel Blogging Academy will offer tours soon as well, so you can connect with like-minded individuals.
